About
We aspire for Queanbeyan-Palerang to be a ‘smart community’ – from the city of Queanbeyan, to the townships of Bungendore and Braidwood, and our villages and rural properties. Three principles guide our approach:
Collaboration and co-creation
Council and community collaboration is the backbone of our approach. We strive to develop partnerships and cooperation to drive cocreation, share knowledge and unlock creativity.
Innovation
We seek innovation across all sectors – testing new technology and harnessing it for economic growth.
Participation
We support participation, access and inclusion through the design of user-friendly digital services, more opportunities for community engagement and increased access to information.

Smart Project
Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council is one of only three councils in Australia to win federal government grant funding under the Smart City and Suburbs program to implement its Smart City agenda.
Our priority actions include offering free public Wi-Fi in the Queanbeyan CBD, smart parking and lighting, environmental sensors, CCTV installation, 3D planning platform, and developing a smart work hub to facilitate collaboration and innovation between businesses and people.
We are working to develop smart remote working facilities, tourist and visitor services and online services. On top of developing digital and tech infrastructure to sustain our growth, we are exploring smart agriculture to drive rural productivity, and using digital for tourism to grow the visitor economy.
