Industry consultation sessions on this project that were planned for March have been postponed. The following survey is seeking feedback that can assist the continuation of the project in the meantime.
Growing the Tablelands visitor economy and improving its appeal to visitors is the focus of a collaborative tourism development planning project that forms part of the Destination Southern NSW Destination Management Plan.
The Tablelands Destination Development Project involves Destination Southern New South Wales, Destination New South Wales and the five Tablelands’ Local Government Areas (LGAs) – Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Hilltops Council, Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council, Yass Valley Council, and Upper Lachlan Shire Council. See more information on the Project Fact sheet attached.
An important part of the planning process is to engage with the five Councils and their industry stakeholders to consider opportunities and challenges to grow the local and regional visitor economies.
Due to the increasing concerns of the coronavirus pandemic, a decision has been made to postpone proposed industry consultation sessions that were planned for March in the Queanbeyan-Palerang LGA.
The project will still progress as planned, and it is important that the tourism planning consultant, Dr Meredith Wray, hears your views about:
- A vision for tourism for Queanbeyan-Palerang over the next 5 years – i.e. what do we hope to achieve for tourism by 2025
- Key opportunities and challenges to further develop the Quenabeyan-Palerang visitor economy over the next five years
- The potential of collaborating with neighbouring other LGAs to form a distinct tourism region in NSW (Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Hilltops Council Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council, Yass Valley Council, Upper Lachlan Shire Council).
With this in mind, we would appreciate you taking some time to complete a Have Your Say survey that has been created as part of the project engagement activities.

We appreciate your support of this project and hope to have a good framework to grow the local visitor economy into the future. This is particularly important given the current impacts to the economy and tourism and hospitality industries.
Note: Meredith is aware of the directions and actions of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Tourism Plan 2017 to 2025.
